Mission Church will officially launch this Sunday, February 12, at Criswell Elementary School in Forney.
The new church is led by Pastor Eric Creekmore, a former Marine F/A-18 fighter pilot and a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary.
Creekmore and his family have lived in Forney since 2008 when he was medically retired from the Marine Corps.
Mission Church began last year in Creekmore’s home in Travis Ranch before they outgrew the family’s living room and began meeting at John Lewis Elementary on Sunday evenings. They moved to Criswell Elementary last fall and officially launch the church this coming Sunday.
This Sunday’s launch service begins at 10am and will be the start of what the church refers to as a sermon “project” called, “Real Marriage.”
“At Mission Church our focus is the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” Creekmore said. “At Mission Church you will hear the Gospel preached every week and applied to every topic we discuss.”
The church considers itself to be non-denominational and part of a new movement of Gospel-centered churches.
“We also want to be a church where men feel comfortable,” Creekmore continued. “As a Marine, I’ve noticed that many men feel a little out of place in the neo-traditional church environment. So, we’re trying to change that paradigm and be a church where men are welcomed and encouraged to lead.”
Mission Church is a church plant of Fellowship Bible Church Dallas.
